Why Modest?

PC: Scott Jarvie

My absolute favorite moment of a wedding is when the groom sees the bride for the first time. How both of them glow with happiness about the commitment they are about to make. I love to look into the groom's eyes and see the glint of tears. I love to see the way the bride basically floats towards her forever love, eyes locked on his. My heart is full as I realize I get to take a small part in this life-changing moment.

Then I look around. Most people are not looking at the eyes. They're not looking at the faces. They're looking at the dress.

Now I am all for having a stunning wedding dress. I run several bridal stores. I'm pretty obsessed! However, I think it is heart-breaking when the dress steals the focus from the bride. I ache when I see the majority of the audience inadvertantly focusing on the low-cut front, or how amazing the bride's back muscles are, or how she keeps pulling up the dress to keep it from falling.

This is one reason why I chose to specialize in Modest Wedding Dresses. Modesty is not outdated, it is stylish. It encourages others to look at you for YOU rather than for your body. This little anecdote explains it perfectly:

A girl bought an iPad, when her father saw it, He asked her "What was the 1st thing you did when you bought it? "I put an anti-scratch sticker on the screen and bought a cover for the iPad" she replied. "Did someone force you to do so?" "No" "Don't you think it's an insult to the manufacturer?" "No dad! In fact they even recommend using a cover for the iPad" "Did you cover it because it was cheap & ugly?" "Actually, I covered it because I didn't want it to get damage and decrease in value." "When you put the cover on, didn't it reduce the iPad's beauty?" "I think it looks better and it is worth it for the protection it gives my iPad." The father looked lovingly at his daughter and said, "Yet if I had asked you to cover your body which is much more precious than the iPad, would you have readily agreed???" She was mute.....

Indecent dressing and exposure of your body reduces your value and respect.

Parents/grandparents teach your ladies their value .
